British Gas parent Centrica (OTCPK:CPYYF) (OTCPK:CPYYY) said Tuesday it signed an $8B gas supply agreement with U.S.-based Delfin Midstream to import 1M metric tons/year of liquefied natural gas for 15 years from the Delfin Deepwater Port on the Louisiana coast.
The deal marks the first sale for from Delfin’s planned port, which is expected to launch operations and produce first LNG in 2027.
Centrica (OTCPK:CPYYF) (OTCPK:CPYYY) said the deliveries will provide enough energy to heat 5% of U.K. homes for 15 years and “build further resilience” to the country’s energy security.
Centrica (OTCPK:CPYYF) (OTCPK:CPYYY) has been expanding its LNG portfolio in recent years, and intensified its efforts after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine upended the European gas market.
