Disney Visa Money Mickey Mouse

The Walt Disney Company has joined forces with digital payments leader Visa, for a new integrated campaign. The partnership sees Visa become the presenting partner for Disney’s 100th-anniversary experiences across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in 2023.

Thanks to the partnership, Visa will promote unique rewards and experiences with Disney that Visa cardholders can unlock throughout the year. Alongside issuing bank partners, Visa is enabling its customers to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary.

On 16 October 1923, Roy and his brother Walt Disney officially founded the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio in Hollywood, California. To celebrate 100 years since this event, Visa is to support the promotion of rewards, offers and content promotions, including:

  • Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming animated musical Wish; set for release on 22 November 2023.
  • Disney’s theatrical shows across EMEA, including The Lion King, Frozen the Musical, Aladdin and Tarzan.
  • Pre-sale offers for Visa cardholders for Disney on Ice.
  • 20% off shopDisney merchandise for select periods in markets across EMEA.
  • A range of fantastic Disney prize packages throughout the year for Visa cardholders.

Kim Kadlec, chief marketing officer in Europe at Visa, commented on the partnership. She said: “We are proud to play a part in celebrating 100 years of Disney, inviting Visa cardholders across Europe to unlock magical rewards and experiences as part of this very special anniversary.”

Disney anniversary events

In an effort to celebrate the anniversary, the digital payments provider is also supporting a number of priority events, including:

Disney100: The Concert – A touring multimedia concert experience, featuring iconic musical moments from Disney’s history. The tour is also set to include highlights from the likes of Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel. The tour covers the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France.

Disney100: The Exhibition – An event highlighting hundreds of pieces of Disney original artefacts, costumes props and more. The exhibition is set to premiere in Munich on 18 April 2023. Following European dates, it travels to ExCeL London in autumn 2023.

Nicole Morse, VP brand and franchise marketing strategy for Disney in EMEA, also commented. She said: “We are inspired by the fans and families who have brought us into their hearts over the last 100 years. And with so many incredible events and experiences planned this year, working with Visa means even more people across Europe, the Middle East and Africa will have the chance to take part in the magic of Disney.”

Disney Visa cards enable customers to pick their favourite design

The celebratory partnership is not the first time that the two companies have come together. For over a decade, Visa, Disney and Chase Bank have collaborated to offer cardholders exclusive benefits, rewards, experiences and perks to enhance their relationship with the Disney brand.

October 2022 saw the companies announce a multi-year extension of the Disney Visa Card, Disney Premier Visa Card and Disney Visa Debit Card programs.

Ed Olebe, president of Chase co-brand cards, explained the significance of the partnership at the time. Olebe said: “The extension of our co-brand card program with Disney and Visa illustrates our collective commitment to providing Disney Cardmembers with rewards and experiences that deliver value and help create lasting memories. We’re excited to continue working across Disney’s incredible portfolio of brands to bring a little bit of magic to Cardmembers’ lives.”
