In Riverhead, Catholic Health opened a new 15,600-square-foot ambulatory facility at 800 Old Country Road.

New York State Department of Health provided an $8 million transformation grant in support of the new center where patients can access primary and specialized care, including in neurosurgery, pediatric orthopedics and more. Additional services include pain management, podiatry, urology, and soon physicians from St. Francis Heart Center. The center will also offer walk-in and same-day appointments for primary care.

“Catholic Health is committed to offering state-of-the-art multi-specialty services, and we are proud to now bring those services to Riverhead and its surrounding communities,” Catholic Health President and CEO Dr. Patrick O’Shaughnessy, said in a written statement.

“This Riverhead facility is designed for outpatient care across several specialties, which is important because it is projected that 40% of health care will be delivered in the outpatient ambulatory care setting in the coming years,” he added.

A ribbon cutting was held earlier this week for the new facility, and included Catholic Health leadership, elected officials and community leaders and Richmond Realty Corp., developer of the facility.

“The completion of this Riverhead location further proves Catholic Health’s dedication to making health care accessible to communities across Long Island,” Riverhead Town Supervisor Tim Hubbard said, according to a news release about the new center. “They are a system that is addressing an unmet need, and I commend them for their continued efforts.”

“The opening of the Catholic Health Ambulatory Care Center in Riverhead provides our residents on the East End with a new and viable alternative to exceptional outpatient and ambulatory care services,” Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine said in a written statement. I applaud Catholic Health on this notable achievement and look forward to working with our region’s healthcare providers to ensure our residents have access to safe, convenient and accessible care.”
