'Groking Will Become Like Googling' – Elon Musk's High Ambitions For xAI's First AI Product Involves Making It A Verb - Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOG), Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META)

During the weekend, Elon Musk’s xAI finally released its first AI modelGrok, and the tech billionaire doesn’t want it to just compete with existing platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT but become a verb like “googling.”

What Happened: After Musk announced on (formerly Twitter) that Grok had been released, users wasted no time in comparing Grok with well-established AI systems like ChatGPT, Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG GOOGL Google Bard, and Microsoft Corporation’s MSFT Bing AI

In one instance, a user dubbed ChatGPT as “Woke” and Grok as “Based.” ChatGPT was described as “Polite and annoying,” while Grok earned the labels of “Sarcastic and Funny.” The user even cheekily pointed out that ChatGPT’s name seemed “stupid” while xAI’s AI platform was hailed as “a verb.”

The tech mogul said, “Groking will become like Googling.”

It became clear that Musk’s vision for Grok is to have it become synonymous with the act of using AI, similar to how we use the term “googling” for searching on the internet.

Another user praised the choice of the name Grok, highlighting its phonetic similarity to “Google.” Musk endorsed this idea, saying Grok is “what you want AI to do for you.”

Why It’s Important: So far, it has become apparent that Grok is not your typical chatbot. It’s a witty and sarcastic entity seamlessly integrated into platform X.

What sets Grok apart from its competition is its ability to tap into X’s live data, providing real-time insights and responses, setting it apart from competitors that rely on static data sets.

Musk and xAI have already stated that Grok’s early performance rivals Meta Platform’s META LLaMA 2 and matches the capabilities of Anthropic’s Claude model in academic testing.

Musk has also announced that once Grok exits its early beta phase, he plans to make it accessible to all X Premium Plus subscribers, making it a key feature of the newly introduced premium subscription level by X.
