Exchange Scale Up Scheme Sees 15 New Participants From Different Sectors

The drive for cleaner energy has never been stronger, and this impact is being largely felt in the transportation industry. As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) increases, so does the need for high-power charging ports. As such, Allstar, the EV and business expense payment company, has partnered with the European charging company, Fastned. Together, business drivers using the Allstar One Electric solution can charge and pay at Fastned’s network of high-power chargers across the UK.

According to the IEA, global sales are expected to grow by 35 per cent from 2022, breaking its previous record. Furthermore, the number of UK registered EVs is already roughly 18 per cent higher than the whole of 2022, according to Allstar’s partner, Zapmap. To deal with such rapid growth, Allstar’s new partnership will see its network of charge points increase to over 6,000. Consequently, this takes the total number of charge points to over 11,000.

New payment infrastructure is vital to ensuring the uptake of EVs as more drivers look to tap and charge their cars. According to Zapmap, Fastned was ranked the best joint charge point operator in the UK in 2022. It recently installed its 14th station in the UK in East Anglia. It features six 300kW charging bays, with more in the pipeline for this year.

The company boasts over 265 stations across the UK and mainland Europe. More than 1,300 charge points are capable of adding up to 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes. Furthermore, all of Fastned’s chargers are powered by solar and wind renewable energy. They are supported by solar panels installed on the canopies of its charging stations, making them a sustainable choice for drivers.

Accelerating access to EVs

Commenting on the partnership, Tom Rowlands, FLEETCOR managing director, Global EV Solutions, including UK brand, Allstar, said: “We’re excited to partner with Fastned to expand our EV charging network. The company is a leading player in the European fast-charging market. Their high-powered chargers will provide our drivers with even more convenient and reliable charging options across the UK.”

Tom Hurst, UK country manager for Fastned, added: “Our mission is to give freedom to electric drivers and accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility. This is why we’re delighted to partner with Allstar. We want to give drivers in the UK even more choice when it comes to charging their vehicles.”

The deal with Fastned follows Allstar’s recent partnerships with EVYVE, Fuuse and InstaVolt, with more networks soon to be added.
