4 Frugal Facebook Groups

Social media can promote overspending because it exposes you to lots of ads. However, if you use an ad blocker and follow personal finance influencers and forums, social media can be a great resource. I’ve learned tons of frugal tips from social media, such as how to meal plan and hunt for clearance deals at the supermarket. Facebook in particular has many helpful groups where you can ask personal finance questions and learn frugal hacks. To help you save money, I’ve rounded up my favorite frugal Facebook groups below.

4 Money Saving Facebook Groups

Walmart Clearance Shoppers

One of my favorite money saving Facebook groups is Walmart Clearance Shoppers. It’s a very active group where people post pictures of their recent Walmart clearance hauls.

The best thing about this group is that the original poster usually provides Brickseek links for all the clearance items they found. Brickseek is an inventory checker that allows you to see if a certain item is in stock and on clearance at your local Walmart. Using Brickseek helps ensure that you don’t waste a trip to the store looking for items that end up being sold out or full-price.

Although it takes some time to sift through all the deals that are posted and find ones that work for you, it’s worth the effort. I’ve found lots of great deals on practical items like food and cleaning products through this group, which has helped me save money and stick to my budget.

Meijer Coupon Deals

Another frugal shopping group I love is Meijer Coupon Deals. The group posts weekly match-ups that show you how to combine Meijer’s sales with coupons and rebates from apps like Ibotta. Members also share updates about nationwide clearance sales.

For example, I found out that Halloween merchandise, candy, and baking mixes are 90% off this week through the group. Now I know to check out that section of the store the next time I go grocery shopping. Although you may not have a Meijer location in your area, you’ll likely be able to find coupon groups for your local supermarket using the Facebook search function.

Budgeting, Saving, Frugal Ways, Grocery Hauls, and Homemaking

I recently joined this Budgeting and Saving Facebook group, which has already taught me several useful tips. For example, I found out that you can search on the Sam’s Club website for hidden deals. If you go to the grocery section and sort the price by low to high, you can often find discounted items. One member recently bought a 28-ounce jar of organic jam for just $1.91.

Members of the group also post their frugal grocery hauls, debt reduction tips, mortgage payoff strategies, Christmas budgeting tips, and more. It’s a very active group with over 60,000 members and more than 10 new posts per day, so I recommend checking it out!

Buy Nothing Groups

The Buy Nothing Project is an organization that aims to reduce waste. Instead of tossing items you’re no longer using in the garbage, the Buy Nothing Project encourages you to post your unwanted belongings to their local groups. Most communities (including my small rural town) have a Buy Nothing group, which is often hosted on Facebook. To find your local group, simply enter “Buy Nothing” and your location into the Facebook search bar.

All of the items posted on Buy Nothing groups are free, which enables you to save money on necessities. You can usually find gently used clothes, furniture, unopened pantry items, small appliances, and more listed there. If your group doesn’t have what you need, you can make a request for the items you’re currently looking for. When you see something you want, you won’t have to travel far to pick it up. The groups are location-restricted to people in your city or town, which makes arranging local pick-up easier.

If you get items from the group, don’t forget to return the favor the next time you’re decluttering and list some of your items!
